A wonderland wedding is a must for couples with an artistic flair.[/vc_column_text][vc_separator type=”small” position=”center” color=”#ffffff” up=”25″ down=”25″ thickness=”5″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” interval=”3″ images=”20531,20532,20515,20516,20519,20520″ onclick=”link_no” custom_links_target=”_self” column_number=”0″ grayscale=”no” choose_frame=”default” img_size=”45×10″][vc_separator type=”small” position=”center” color=”#ffffff” up=”25″ down=”25″ thickness=”5″][vc_column_text]
I organised my first Wonderland wedding for a couple who were also friends: she is a painter and he a cartoon bubble cartoonist. They wanted the” most marvellous fable-like wedding” (their words!) that had ever been designed.
I knew they would expect something magical, something like a “Wonderland”.
In my project, the church was lit by soft candlelight, with blue, pink, yellow and white flowers leading to the altar where we placed two one-meter -tall crystal vases full of green apples standing on white and black striped silk drapes. The backdrop was completed with the addition of a small mandarin tree and blue flowers.
The pews were adorned with compositions of apples, grapefruits and red roses.
For her, I suggested a hand-made dress with a turquoise bustier and a white ankle-length full skirt. On her head she wore a white homburg with white voile.
For him an elegant morning suit.
The guests were asked to wear something relevant to the theme. For men: big black glasses, white leather gloves and black cylinder. For women: red lipstick and black tight velvet necklace.
Of course, a carriage was the best means of transport!
The party venue was a medieval castle near Treviso where every room of the piano nobile is characterised by a different atmosphere.
A “sweet and candy room” with a special corner named “literature and chocolate” was set up, another corner with coloured sweets with white and red lollypops and ice cream, and there was even a table dedicated to brioches stuffed with a selection of special creams… One room was dedicated to fruit and vegetables and another room was decorated to the theme of “mirrors and masks”, which was also the most unusual room.
In main room, there was a long amber brown table with long black and white striped runners: in the middle, an amazing composition of blue, fuchsia, white, red and green flowers and plants.
The welcome drink was prepared out in park where everything was decorated and adorned: the paths were lined with dried flowers, rose petals and grapefruits and, of course, suggestive candles!
The food? The food was also in the “Marryville- wonderland style”, what else!
When I illustrated and described the project to my friends they were amazed and immediately said “Yes! We want this!”
Artisans were contracted to set up a special wonderland atmosphere, something like a Walt Disney film!
